“Smoking is not a drug problem”                                                              Tobacco use is the leading preventable cause of disease, disability, and death in the United States. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), cigarette smoking results in more than 480,000 premature deaths in the United States each year—about 1 in every 5 U.S. deaths—and an additional 16 million people suffer with a serious illness caused by smoking. In fact, for every one person who dies from smoking, about 30 more suffer from at least one serious tobacco-related illness. nicotine has been compared  to  cocaine and heroin addiction.  It does cause withdrawal symptoms.

“Only Adults smoke cigarettes”                                                   Each day, more than 3,200 people under 18 smoke their first cigarette, and approximately 2,100 youth and young adults become daily smokers. 9 out of 10 smokers start before the age of 18,  and 98% start smoking by age 26.in 5 adults and teenagers smoke.In 2011, an estimated 19% of U.S. adults were cigarette smokers.Approximately 18% of high school students smoke cigarettes.In 2011, nearly 18% of high school boys were current cigar users. From 1964 to 2014, the proportion of adult smokers declined from 42.0% to 18.0%.                                                                 “Once you are addicted to tobacco,there is no use in trying to quit using. The damage is done”.  when people starts smoking its hard for them to stop smoking. because their body is not ready for it go back to its normal ways. the range of go back to normal is 20 minutes.  after 10-15 years of not smoking it gets better for the person and the body but it take time for some people to stop.  “Smoking helps my body relax”

The idea that smoking relieves stress is a myth, say psychologists.Rather than help smokers relax, nicotine actually increases anxiety and tension, they claim. Nicotine is a stimulant speed your body up.

Smoking will help me lose weight or i will gain weight if i quit smoking.

losing weight or gain weight ex smokers gain about 1/3 stay the same weight. weight loss  comes from a tobacco company’s advertising campaign something to think about why are most women cigarettes called slim or light?
